The 29 year-old joined the Merseyside club on a free transfer last summer.

"Joe Cole's been fantastic since he came here, his application and dedication on the training pitch has been superb," Dalglish told reporters at a press conference at the club.

"Joe's attitude has been brilliant and anything he gets, he fully deserves."

"Has he got the desire? I think you are insulting the boy there," he said.

"When you ask if someone has desire, I think you are insulting them.

"It's up to you, I've just waxed lyrical about his dedication, his application, if you want to get into a confrontation with Joe, fine, that's up to you."
